My Favourite Place to Shoot

Ottawa is such a scenic city and it offers up so many wonderful and different locations for photography. Here is one of my absolute favourite spots to shoot in my hometown.

Ornamental Gardens/Dominion Arboretum

With a central location, this area is at the top of my list for photography. Both the Ornamental Gardens and the Dominion Arboretum are a photographer’s dream for beautiful scenery and gorgeous backdrops. Whether you enjoy portrait, wedding, nature, or even macro photography it’s the perfect spot for a variety of photographic ventures. The garden and the arboretum are conveniently located right next to each other. There are countless types of flowers throughout the gardens from spring until early fall. If you’re into flower or macro photography, this is the ideal place. Butterflies and bees are frequent visitors around the garden. You can find crabapple blossoms blooming for a short time throughout the arboretum, and just at the edge of the Ornamental Gardens, making it a hotspot for photographers during that time. Of course, when the leaves start to change in the fall it creates a canvas of colours to capture as well.
